Women Wielding the Workplace (WWW)

Women Wielding the Workplace (WWW) aims to develop solution-based support networks for enabling greater participation and leadership by women in the workforce in South Asia, with a focus on India, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

Over the years, we have worked extensively with women entrepreneurs and cultural practitioners across the sectors of craft and performing arts, engaging with more than 50,000 women across geographies including Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Mizoram, Assam, Tripura, and Nagaland. Our work has focused on strengthening grassroots women-led enterprises, preserving traditional knowledge systems, and building sustainable livelihood opportunities through market access, mentorship, ecosystem support, and strengthening networks among women entrepreneurs across regions and sectors.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, we expanded our work in collaboration with the U.S. Consulate General Kolkata to strengthen women’s leadership, entrepreneurship, and business capabilities across sectors. Through programmes such as Women Wielding the Workplace (WWW) and the Academy of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), we have capacitated first-generation women entrepreneurs by connecting them with mentors, investors, networks, and business development opportunities. Our work attempts to develop platforms for entrepreneurs to network with peers, exchange experiences and ideas, build collaborations, and strengthen collective support systems and leadership among women-led enterprises.

Areas of Focus:

  • #mPowerWomen@Business: Strengthen networks of business mentors, investors, and women-led businesses, with a special focus on first-generation entrepreneurs from grassroots and cultural sectors.
  • #Media4Women@Work: Foster media dialogue and storytelling around the challenges, aspirations, and achievements of working women and women entrepreneurs.
  • #Care4Women@Work: Facilitate sharing of ideas, experiences, and support systems around work-life balance, mental well-being, and holistic support for working women.
