Empower Organisations: Boosting women led rural enterprises
On September 2nd, 2024 Contact Base, with support from IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIM-CIP), organized a workshop on “Empowering Organizations: Rural Women-Led Enterprises” at the Ramkrishna Mission Institute of Culture. The workshop aimed to support rural women entrepreneurs by empowering organizations that work with them. Attendees included NGOs, SHGs, and rural women entrepreneurs from across West Bengal, such as Hill Social Welfare Society, M G Gramodyog Sewa Sansthan Foundation, Barasat Unnayan Prastuti, MATE, Anahat for Change Foundation, Equidiversity Foundation, Aegipan Animal Biocare Pvt Ltd, Basirhat Initiative for Rural Dedication, Garanbose Gram Bikash Kendra, North 24 Parganas Sammyao Sramogibi, and Gorainagar Agnibina Sangha. These organizations, from various districts including North 24 Parganas, Purulia, Birbhum, South 24 Parganas, and Kalimpong, work across West Bengal and beyond, presented their work on social causes such as trafficking survivor rehabilitation, climate change, and innovative income models for marginalized women. Experts provided guidance on running rural businesses, and the event also launched the selection process for grants up to 4.5 lakh rupees, fostering collaboration and recognizing efforts in women-led enterprises.
