AWE 5.0: Bootcamp for women entrepreneurs in Nagaland
We are partnering with the U.S. Consulate General Kolkata for the “Academy for Women Entrepreneurs 5.0 (AWE-5)” program, aimed at fostering nano entrepreneurship among indigenous women to enhance livelihoods and income generation. In 2025, this program will support approximately 60 women from Nagaland and Jharkhand.
Indigenous women possess unique traditional skills that are often underutilized in mainstream economics and face socio-economic challenges such as poverty, limited education, and lack of employment opportunities. Many women-led businesses struggle due to inadequate business skills, low confidence, and limited market knowledge. The program focuses on capacity building in business planning and marketing, enhancing digital and financial literacy, and supporting the scaling up of enterprises from ideation to initiation. Priority will be given to linking participants with government schemes for access to credit, subsidies, and market linkages to ensure long-term sustainability.
The bootcamp, scheduled for February 11- 12, 2025 at YouthNet in Dimapur, will involve 30 indigenous women, along with stakeholders in business development. This bootcamp will serve as a pivotal step in their economic empowerment, fostering leadership, building resilience, and providing a foundation for developing business ideas and plan. It will equip participants with essential tools and knowledge, helping them overcome barriers The AWE-5 program envisions these women as catalysts for change, capable of transforming their communities and contributing to local economic development.
